Who we are
Our website address is: https://pickmemaybe.com. This is a personal blog owned and operated by Pick (Pickey Mouse), documenting life and work in rural Northern Territory, Australia, for family and friends back home in Thailand and around the world.
Comments
When you leave a comment on my site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with your IP address and browser user agent string to help me keep the “spammers” away.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After I approve your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public next to your comment. You can check the Gravatar privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please be mindful that visitors can download and extract any location data (EXIF GPS) included in those images. To keep your privacy safe, I recommend removing location data before uploading.
Cookies
To make things easier for you:
- Comments: If you leave a comment, you can opt-in to saving your name and email in cookies so you don’t have to type them again next time. These last for one year.
- Login: If you have an account and log in, we use temporary cookies to see if your browser accepts them (no personal data here). We also set cookies to remember your login info for two days (or two weeks if you click “Remember Me”).
- Editing: If you contribute or edit a post, a cookie is saved just to track the post ID you worked on. It expires in 24 hours.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (like YouTube videos, images, or articles). This content behaves exactly as if you visited the other website directly. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, or track your interaction if you’re logged into their platform.
Who we share your data with
I don’t sell your data to anyone—I’m just here to share stories! However, if you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security purposes.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This helps me recognize and approve your future comments automatically. For users that register on the site, I store the personal information provided in your user profile. You can see, edit, or delete your own information at any time (except your username).
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can ask for an exported file of the personal data I hold about you. You can also ask me to erase any personal data. This doesn’t include data I’m required to keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
Where your data is sent
To keep the site clean, visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service.
